Design and Modeling of Pipe Fittings

1. Project Overview
This project outlines a professional, step-by-step SolidWorks workflow for creating precision pipe fittings, ensuring reliable performance, leak-proof connections, and manufacturable geometry.
2. Precise Pipe Fitting Design Workflow
Key Steps:
-
2D Sketch Creation
Begin with a detailed cross-section sketch on your working plane. Accurately define the inner and outer diameters of both the threaded segment and the main pipe body. -
3D Extrusion
Use the Extrude feature to convert each 2D profile into its corresponding 3D solid. Extrude the thread section and pipe section separately for maximum control. -
Thread Application
Apply the Thread tool to designated faces. This ensures the fitting will properly engage with mating components or tubing. -
Ribs & Grooves Generation
Add exterior ribs or grooves around the hose-connection area. These features improve grip, prevent slippage, and minimize leakage under pressure. -
Fillet & Finishing Touches
Smooth all sharp edges and corners using Fillet operations. This enhances both the visual appeal and the safety of the final part.
